Dr. Merrell received his M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He is a board-certified Oncologist in the department of Radiation Oncology at the Mayo Clinic. His clinical area of interest is management of malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract, thorax and central nervous system.  He is involved in multiple cooperative group clinical trials and has received numerous Fellowships, grants and awards to support his work. Dr. Merrell is the medical director of Global Bridges Healthcare Alliance for Oncology, which leads educational efforts in oncology for low- and middle-income countries.
